You might be wondering why I choose that title for this post, but I am going to get there. My Sunday school class is starting a new book tomorrow. It is a book that I have been waiting to study since the day our class started. Named by God by Kasey van Norman is the book that we are going to start, and I can tell you just in the past 4 days of me reading it, it has spoken volumes to me. I have learned so much out of the three chapters that I have read for my devotions, I can't wait to study the rest of the book.
In my reading today, what spoke to me was the "You are named by God; You are more than the sum of your mistakes." What this is saying for me is that, no matter what mistakes I have made, I am more than them through Jesus. When God looks at me, he doesn't see some dirty rotten sinner, he sees a sinner white as snow through the shed blood of his perfect Son. That is the way that I need to start looking at myself. Yes, I am a dirty rotten sinner, but I am a dirty rotten sinner that has been made white as snow.
You don't have to let your mistakes define you. God doesn't see your mistakes. He sees his child!
This week, I am learning not to see myself through my mistakes, but see myself the way God sees me!
I can't wait to share with you what I am learning through this book. I highly recommend getting this book and reading it!
I made this little reminder this afternoon. Feel free to save it if you want too, and remember, YOU ARE MORE!!
xoxo,<3 Katelyn
