There was a story told in Bible study today about a lady that had gone to buy some groceries, but then realized that her card was decline. She was sure that the order would have to be voided, and she would have to come back at a later time. A young man came up behind her, and paid for her groceries. The moral of the story was to show that there still is kindness in the world, but then someone brought up the topic of paying it forward. If you don't know what paying it forward means, let me explain it to
you. The term "paying it forward" means that you pay for your item and the next person's item. Let me put this into perspective for you. Lets say
you are out at a fast food place and you order, and then pay for you and
the person behind you. The idea is, is that the person behind you will
pay it forward for the next person. It would keep going like that.
A few people told stories of how they had seen other people pay it forward and it got me thinking.
Jesus was the ultimate "pay it forward." When he died on that cross, he paid it forward for the generations to come. Even to this day, he continues to pay it forward. Every time someone receives his gift of salvation, it is like he is paying it forward all over again. When you pay forward for an item, you are basically giving them a gift. You are saying, here you go, I am giving you this. You don't have to pay me back for it, nor did you do have to do anything to receive it.
Personally for me, this was a real eye opener. I hadn't thought about paying it forward being like what Jesus did on the cross. Boy, I am glad that I was able to see it in a new light. I am thankful that it was brought up in Bible study and that I am able to share it with y'all! From now on, I am going to try to "pay it forward" whenever see a person in need like the story above, or even "pay it forward" the next time that I am purchasing something! :)
On a totally different note, here are the #WhatGodSaysAboutYou verses!! :)
Yesterday's verse.
Today's verse! :)
