So, at the beginning of this post it was entitled "The Great Scholarship Search" but then I was like, no one is going to want to read my rant of about two zillion words about finding the right scholarship and not getting scammed. This being the beauty of electronics, I just hit backspace a couple of times and... BAM brand spankin' new blog post title! Don't y'all just love it!
Part of my college prep is searching for good legit scholarships. LU has some really good, helpful websites on their college prep page that I like. It matches you with scholarships that it thinks would be good for you based on a couple of simple questions. I think I filled out my application in like five minutes. After looking at different scholarships for about 30 minutes I was going cross eyed, and I couldn't stand to look at them anymore. When you can't stand to look at them anymore, you just blog about them! Lol! :)
The part of college prep that I am actually looking forward to is the decor part! I already have pinterest boards of potential decor items that could grace the walls of my tiny dorm room come August. A lot of them are handmade and I'm pretty sure that if I tried them, they would end up looking like a had a blind fold on while making them. While they are cute, I doubt I would put them up on the walls. I would like my dorm room to have as much personality as it can while still being classy and fabulous! I don't want it to get out of hand. I do want to have as many pictures as I can. I am a picture kind of gal, and I love having them on the wall for everyone to see! If you have a picture that you would like to see be in my dorm, I'm taking all applicants! ;) I would also like to have some sort of monogram something in my dorm just to make it mine. I'm thinking pillow, wall letter, or full on wall monogram! I am also loving all things chevron! I have been checking out bedspreads, and I have a couple that are at the top of the list, but I am still searching! I want to be able to have everything all together by move-in date so that I don't have to run out and spend a million dollars are stuff! I know that there will probably be a ton of walmart runs to pick up more everything, but I want to have the big stuff all ready to go!
I have also started a stock pile. I have a box of things that I have gained at Christmas, or that I even had laying around in my room that I haven't used but I know that I will use at school. I love seeing it grow! For Christmas, I was given a lot of stuff that I already had so I was able to add that to the box for college! I also have a HUGE list that I made of everything that I think I will need to purchase for school. I would like to have a couple of each item that is a consumable before I go to school. I am trying to save as much money as I can while at school. I know that I will have to buy some stuff while there, but I am trying to keep cost down as much as possible.
I am loving most of this stage of life right now. I love prepping for school! There are some things that I don't like about this stage like financing school, but I am not going to stress about it, because I know that my God is in control!! If my readers have any college tips, tricks, or secrets I would LOVE to hear them. Trust me, U have searched pinterest far and wide, and I think I have read every blog post or article that there is!
So I know that this has NOTHING to do with what this post is about, but I love this quote!
(Not my picture. Found it on Pinterest!)
xoxo,<3 Katelyn

Sticky tack will be your best friend -- you can put up pics, etc without destroying walls. :)
ReplyDeleteRolling clothes individually and then placing clothes in rows helps more fit in the drawers.
You will want your own space from time to time. If you end up in a bunk and on the bottom, bring a blanket you plan to use as your curtain -- just tuck in under top mattress or whatever.
Multi-surface cleaner will be your forever friend.
Nutella and bread are like manna from heaven when you want a comforting snack late at night. ;)
Do try to pack as light as possible. You will think you need most everything you own in this world, but after a semester or two you will realize over and over that there is so much there with you at school that you just do not need or use. Figuring out what those things are and leaving them behind is the hard part!
Cute shoes are the bomb, but be sure not to kill your feet for the sake of fashion and cuteness. If you are doing tons of walking, more comfort and support the better! (I sound old)
If you struggle with being a workaholic (or with the complete opposite -- a social butterfly that hates being pinned down) maybe make a plan for just how much to allow yourself to do outside of studying/working. You need a healthy balance, because otherwise something is going to suffer -- your grades or your sanity, either one!
Marker boards are awesome for studying. You can write and write and keep on writing just for memory sake. Flashcards will be your best friend -- and you will probably kill a hundred trees! lol. It's okay.
Don't forget to sleep, okay?
Thanks Sarah!! Going to write all of these down!! :)
